Materials and Installation

Clean Your Dock
Your dock should receive a thorough cleaning at least once a year. Use the steps below.
- Remove all debris.
- Apply a gentle cleaning solution that won’t harm local marine life, such as vinegar and water or baking soda and water.
- Scrub stains, mildew, and grime away with a non-abrasive brush.
- Pressure wash the dock at moderate pressure.
Pressure washing can be tricky. To avoid damage, start with the lowest setting and work your way up. Never use the highest possible setting.
Give Your Docks Check-Ups
Docks should receive an annual check-up to ensure that it’s in good shape. Here is your check-up checklist.
- Are the fasteners stable?
- Is all of the hardware stable and in good shape?
- Are there any wooden boards that are splintered, cracked, or rotted?
- Ensure all bolts are tight.
- Ensure stairs and ladders are stable.
- Make sure nothing is missing or damaged.
